Ride or Die: Skaters Take Over Delhi for Go Skate Day 2025

June 21, 2025 // New Delhi, India

Why did the skies clear on June 21st? Maybe because Delhi had something bigger than rain coming its way. On 21st of June 2025, the city’s skaters were ready to take over the streets. Go Skate Day 2025, at Backyard Skatepark, Saket presented by Astrix, turned into more than just a ride on a skateboard. It was a day that left you with bruises, memories, and stories you’ll tell for a long time.

The morning started with uncertainty. Heavy showers, wet ramps, and the fear that the day might not happen at all. But when the boards hit concrete, the park came alive. Thanks to State Supply India, nobody was left standing on the sidelines. They made sure everyone had a board to ride. From four-year-old rookies wobbling to find their balance to seasoned riders rolling smoothly, everyone was on the move. And it was not all us, we had the support from our amazing partners who made sure nobody had to worry about keeping their energy up.

By mid-day, the ramps were packed, and everyone was running on low battery. Skaters wiped sweat off their faces, and cold Monster cans were cracked open just in time to give them the last push. Some grabbed First Coffee’s cold coffee to shake off the slump. While Arcadewala’s mini arcade gave everyone a moment to reset, Headzup’s helmets made sure safety didn’t slow anyone down (even added a bit of style to the chaos).

To be honest, the park didn’t stop buzzing all day, and neither did the riders. When hours of skating made hunger inevitable, The Whole Truth had the answer. Snacks that felt light, clean, and guilt-free, perfect for grabbing between runs. AKU’s came in as our food partner too, but the rain said no to the grills, so they had to call it a day and head home. A loss that everyone at the park felt that day (because who doesn’t want a burger after hours on a board?).

But even if the food slowed down, the skating didn’t. We had some seriously talented skaters on the ramp, and there was no way we were letting the best ones walk away empty-handed. For the young under 12 crew, the best trick competition tested them on the launcher and let us just say they did not fail to impress us. For the more seasoned riders above 12, we turned up the challenge with a 5-stair set that pushed them to go big or go home. It was a sight to behold. Winners rolled home with complete skateboards and accessory sets. From decks and bearings to grip tape and wheels from Skate Supply India, fresh helmets from Headzup, and some slick Astrix merch to make sure the stoke didn’t end when the event did.

The day wouldn’t have been possible without the people behind Backyard Skatepark, especially Mandal uncle and his team, who opened their doors to make Delhi’s first Go Skate Day of this scale, a reality. Support also came from countless hands behind the scenes, including Anmol, who captured the entire day, and the Astrix crew who had already put in the hard work long before the first board hit the ramp.

By the time the sun set, the ramps were scratched, the skaters were sore, and the park was still alive with music and laughter (even if it meant a laptop didn’t survive the night).

For a few hours, Backyard Skatepark stopped being just a venue. It became proof that Delhi’s skate culture is here. Growing and impossible to ignore.

As Siddhant Tripathi, CEO of Astrix, put it: “I had a phenomenal experience at the event, with a bit of (a lot of) mishaps. But it was rain or shine, so all I knew was that we needed to pull it off. There were both bitter and sweet experiences with our partners and collaborators, but I’m grateful to every brand that had the courage to join us in this very first event. And of course, huge props to the team, they did a great job with the pre-event work, and I had a great time smashing the laptop while DJing at the event!”

But honestly? We can’t really put it into words. You had to be there.

Because in the end, it’s always ride or die.

(And yes, beer pong happened with Monster Energy-filled cups, Ishaan lost, and it couldn’t have ended any better.).
